General Perspective Projection
I chose to look into the General Perspective Projection map type. In looking at the many options to choose from, I found this most appealing because it is used in several modern map technologies such as GE, Esri's ArcGIS, etc. In order for this method to work, the cameralens must be pointed at the center of the Earth, otherwise a tilted perspective is obtained and all accuracy is lost. The Vertical perspective is related to the Stereographic projection, Gnomonic projection, and Orthographic projection. More information can be found here: General Perspective Projection
